The 8 Best art supplies stores in Paris (updated!)

My new studio in Saint-Cloud

My old studio in Saint-Cloud, I’m in Asnières right now!

Hello,

Are you an artist visiting Paris? Are you an art supplies addict? This article that I wrote few years ago may help tou find your way in Paris. It’s newly updated!

These are, in my opinion, the BEST art supplies addresses in Paris:

  • Marin Beaux-Arts: This is Paradise on Earth to artists. The well kept secret from the professional. This two floor art store located outside Paris is just everything you ever wanted to see. In the first floor you can find all kinds of canvas, linen and frames in any size or quality because they a manufacturer too! Second floor, brushes, pigments, paints… They have a delivery and pick-up professional service that “saves” us when you need to frame a painting or need some extra art material.

  • Le Géant des Beaux-Arts: I can happily cross the town for getting in one of the 2 stores they have here (I go in the one in the 11ème) but I do almost my shopping online.

  • Rougier & Plé (Graphigro): They are 50 stores in France and I normally go to the one in the XVème, but it's not my favorite… I like the one in the Marais. They have a nice selection of products.

  • Lavrut: I visited this shop a while ago, I found everything very expensive but they are located in a famous "Passage", so the visit is something special.

  • Sennelier: you just want to die when you get inside this tiny little shop in the Rive Gauche packed with the best (and expensive) art materials you can find. They sell Dr. Ph Martins inks here, the only place I found it. They have weird open time schedule, but if you visit the Louvre you just cross a bridge and you're there. They have another shop in Montparnasse but it was closed when I went visiting.

  • Boesner: I’ve been there few times. They have some amazing squared sketchbooks and good prices and a nice selection of products too.

  • Dalbe: A network of over 120 art and craft stores! Partner of the Maison des Artistes that gives 20% discount to its members and still has 7 stores spread here in Paris. I usually go to the one on the 17éme, but there are also some on the 5éme and in Montparnasse. You get 10€ on purchases over 25€ when you sign up for the newsletter. It is worth checking it out.

So if you are an art material addict, like me, visiting Paris let me know if you stop by one of these stores.

    Have fun!
